Welcome to CIS,B

The CIS, B is a research centre. Some dedicated information literacy experts put their heads together to form an organization - Centre for Information Studies, Bangladesh (CIS, B) to ignite ethical values, infuse voluntary spirit, ensure quality targeting the students of secondary schools of the rural areas. Established in December 2009, the CIS, B has organized and conducted a series of training programmes, seminars and conferences on information literacy, health, hygiene and contributed meaningfully to the Bangladesh National Education Policy 2010. Moreover, CIS, B has been conducting researches on IL and published articles attending the conference in national and international forum. Today, it has been considered to be one of the foremost Information Literacy (IL) and lifelong learning service providers in the country.

Workshop on Information Culture at National Archives of Bangladesh - 16 July 2018

A workshop on Information Culture held at National Archives of Bangladesh on 16 July 2018. Dr. Khadija Viviane Hesami, Faculty, Center of Social and Organizational Informatiks, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia was the keynote speaker on the occassion while Mr. Dilip Kumar Saha, Director General, Additional Secretary, Diroctorates of Archives and Libraries presided the session. The programme was jointly organized by Directorate of Archives and Libraries, Centre for Information Studies (CIS), and OXFAM-Dhaka.

Information Literacy and Advocacy: narrowing knowledge gap at ULAB - 6 July 2013

BALID Institute of Information Management (BIIM), a sister concern of Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) organized a lecture series on Information Literacy and Advocacy: narrowing knowledge gap in collaboration with University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) during 6 July 2013.

Information Literacy and UN Literacy at Dhanmondi Rotary Club Girls High School, Savar, Dhaka – 26-27 January 2013

UNIC Dhaka and the Centre for Information Studies- Bangladesh (CIS-B) jointly organized a two-day Workshop on UN Literacy and a Training session on Information Literacy during 26-27 January 2013 at Dhanmondi Rotary Club Girls High School in Savar, Dhaka. The Headmaster of the School Mr Imarat Hossain inaugurated the training. UNIC Officer-in-Charge Kazi Ali Reza was chief guest in concluding session. Among others, Headmaster of the school, Thana Secondary Education Officer spoke on the occasion.

Information Literacy and ICT Literacy Training Programme at Barokhata High School, Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat - 22-23 September 2012

Centre for Information Studies, Bangladesh (CIS,B) and Practi jointly organized  Information Literacy and ICT Literacy Training Programme during 22-23 September 2012 at Barokhata High School, Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat. The programme was arranged for 30 students of class IX. Dr. Mezbah-ul-Islam, Director (Research) of CIS,B and Associate Professor of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka spoke on the opening ceremony and gave an overview of the training programme. Information Literacy and UN Literacy at Bhujpur National High School, Fatikchari, Chittagong – 23-24 March 2012

UNIC Dhaka and the Centre for Information Studies (CIS) jointly organized a Discussion on MDGs and a Training session on UN and Information Literacy during 23-24 March 2012 at Bhujpur National High School in Chittagong district. Ms Anjana Khan Mojlish, Upazila Nirbahi Officer inaugurated the programme as chief guest while Alhaj S.M. Harun, Chairman of School Managing Committee presided over the session. Information Literacy and MDGs Training Programme at Vadughar Mahbubul Haque Poura Pilot High School, Brahmanbaria – 31 October–1 November 2010

UNIC Dhaka and the Centre for Information Studies (CIS) jointly organized a two-day long Training on Information Literacy and MDGs during 31 October – 1 November 2010 at Vadughar Mahbubul Haque Poura Pilot High School (some 100 km away from the capital) in Brahmanbaria. Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim, Information Commissioner, Information Commission, Bangladesh was the chief guest while Hafizur Rahman Molla, Mayor of Brahmanbaria Municipality presided over the inaugural session.
